Divers found a body at the bottom of the sea off the area known as Sikka l-Bajda.

The grim discovery was made when the divers were practising their sport.

The man is believed to be of African origin, and documents that were on his person indicated that he was 26 years old.

The divers have informed the police who are investigating with the help of the Armed Forces.

However, attempts to locate the body have so far not been fruitful in spite of the indications given by the divers. Sources said that the body could have moved with the currents by the time the AFM went on site.

The search was stopped at sunset and will resume on Tuesday.
