The House rose earlier than usual tonight because many MPs are either abroad or sick. The request was made by government Whip Godfrey Farrugia, who said there was agreement by both sides of the house.

Parliament swiftly debated a number of laws earlier during the sitting, which kicked off with the Prime Minister's and Opposition Leader's statements on the Corinthia attack.

Speaking during adjournment time, PL MP Anthony Agius spoke about the Public Service week, which aims to raise awareness about the public sector.

"Nothing comes for free and people should know how the money they pay in taxes is spent." Mr Agius Decelis said a number of activities are being organized for Public Service Week. These include open days at the Gozo General Hospital, MITA, the Armed Forces and the Police HQ. A number of seminars are also being held, along with an award ceremony for the public service employees who came up with the best simplification ideas.

He also spoke on the dedication shown by several members of the public service, including the health sector, where waiting times have been shortened drastically. The PL MP said the government will also keep working on Repeals Day - a process to remove irrelevant and outdated laws. The process will be carried out every year.
