Refurbishment in another ward at St Vincent de Paul residential home for the elderly

After the latest refurbishment at St. Joseph 3, which has not yet been officially inaugurated, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing, Justyne Caruana, announced that another ward has been identified for refurbishment. She said this during a certificate awarding ceremony for the St Vincent de Paul Residence employees who successfully completed a course in Leadership. 

The Parliamentary Secretary also pointed out that at the moment there is ongoing work in progress in St Francis 3 & 4 female wards, which are expected to be ready by the end of the second quarter of this year. She also mentioned the ambitious project of Rużar Briffa, where the MEPA application has already been submitted, and by which there will be an increase of 125 beds. 

Dr Caruana praised the good work that the employees conduct on a daily basis and encouraged them to attend and be part of these type of courses so as the residence shall have a trained workforce. She mentioned the fact that the Government is working to convert the residence in a Centre of Excellence for Training in Elderly Matters and she also recalled that the applications Care Assistant Courses offered at St. Vincent De Paul Residence are currently open.
