Over the past days a number of motorists must have been shocked when they found what seemed to be a notice of a traffic contravention affixed to their windscreen.
Some must have surely checked whether they had inadvertently parked on a double yellow line or in any other no parking spot, seething at the warden and already thinking of contesting the fine.
But on reading the notice, they discovered that there was nothing wrong with their parking and that it was just a kind of promotional campaign to tell them about the cost of fuel.
On checking with the Nationalist Party, they immediately admitted that they are behind the move to promote their website www.petroludiesel.com
The “information notice”, published by Regjun Taghna Lkoll, (a clear jibe at the Labour Party) is telling motorists about their additional expenditure on petrol and diesel from stations across Malta and Gozo. The notice is signed JM – the initials of Malta’s Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.
On 19 January, the PN launched the website which calculates the amount of money people are paying more at fuel pump stations as a “result of Dr Muscat’s failures”. Meanwhile, this week, the PN submitted a parliamentary motion calling on the government to lower the price of petrol and diesel, to reflect the reduce price of oil.
