Actavis has appointed Patrick Cachia as Managing Director - Malta Operations for the Group's two pharmaceutical manufacturing sites in Malta, Actavis Ltd (Bulebel) and ArrowPharm Ltd (Hal Far).

In this new role, Mr Cachia will have overall responsibility for the operation of the local manufacturing sites, including the implementation of company policy in order to achieve the company's objectives efficiently, cost-effectively and within total compliance of  cGMP, FDA,Corporate standards as well as global EHS standards.

Mr Cachia,an Executive MBA and Pharmacy graduate from the University of Malta,joined Pharmamed Ltd, in November of 1994 as Production Registration Officer and has held positions of increasing responsibility within the company.  He was later promoted to Production Manager of Pharmamed Parenterals Ltd (PPL), a small volume parenteral manufacturing plant in 1997 and to Production Manager of Pharmamed Ltd, the company's solid dosage form manufacturing facility, in June 2004.

A year later, Mr Cachia was promoted to the post of Production Division Manager for Actavis Ltd where he was heavily involved in the upgrade and operation of the site to meet stringent EU requirements.

Since March 2012, Mr Cachia has been heading Actavis Ltd as Managing Director. Additionally, Mr Cachia has consistently supported the local manufacturing operations as they went through numerous mergers, acquisitions and changes in product portfolio throughout the years.

He will continue to report to Sergio Vella, Vice President, Manufacturing Operations, Western Europe.
