Saturday, 31 January 2015, 14:57 Last update: about 10 years ago

Notwithstanding the official comments made in reaction to the public outcry, workmen were this morning fixing position markers for the stalls along the elevation of the new Parliament building.

Meanwhile, the outcry and the controversies continued.

Sad Valletta - The relocation of the Monti near the New parliament Site and the open space around the Piano Project is worse that the horrible stalls themselves. Chris Cardona stated that the relocation would happen as early as the 29 May 2013 (nearly TWO YEAS AGO) - So why is the Council and V18 critical of this move now...? What have they done to prevent it from happening ?

Kenneth Zammit Tabona today criticised the relocation of the Monti in Ordinance Street, Valletta. What was he doing at a press conference only a month ago? A Sitting Duck ? or was he too busy with the tunes of the Baroque Festival that was approaching ? So Sad...!

On the other hand:

Valletta 2018 Foundation

Restoration and regeneration works on Is-Suq tal-Belt are expected to start this year and are to be completed by 2017 with an estimated investment of €8 million.

Another major project is the restoraton of il-Biċċerija, where the Valletta Design Cluster will be established in 2018.

The first phase of works on Strait Street is to be completed early in summer. Street designs and aesthetics are to take into consideration the street's cultural and historic aspects especially in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.
The vision of Valletta 2018 Artistic Director Mario Philip Azzopardi is that together we embrace this opportunity to create institutions, events, organisations and infrastructure that will continue to work and grow for many years after Valletta 2018 becomes a memory.
