For the fourth consecutive week, statistics issued by the European Commission today show a rise in fuel prices across Europe, the PL said in a statement.

In fact, the PL said, the price of fuel in eurozone countries rose to €1.39, an increase of 2c, while diesel prices also increased by 2c to €1.24.

Only two weeks ago, there was an increase in fuel prices across Europe of 6c on unleaded petrol and 7c on diesel.

Among countries that registered an increase in fuel prices, the PL continued, were Ireland (a 3c increase on petrol and a 7c increase in diesel), Holland and Italy. In the UK for instance, the price of diesel is the highest.

During last month, the country with the highest price of fuel was Belgium and this month it is Italy, Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Spain who have the highest prices.

For the umpteenth time, the statistics issued by the European Commission slam PN leader Simon Busuttil’s words that there are countries in the EU with fuel prices well under one euro for every litre of petrol, the PL said.
