A contract of purchase of a property in Gozo to be used as a residence for persons with disability has been signed, Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of Persons with Disability Justyne Caruana has said.

"This occurred after an expression of interest for the provision of residence and Residential Services for Persons with Disability in Gozo was issued.  The identified residence is situated in Victoria and will cater for around ten residents."

"Work in this residence will commence immediately and is expected to be finalised by the end of October in order to welcome the first residents by the end of this year."

Parliamentary Secretary Justyne Caruana explained how the Government is reviewing all possibilities in order to provide other services in particular parts of the building.  She mentioned that presently there is ongoing work to launch the first lifelong learning hub for persons with disability in Ghajnsielem, in which the necessary works will commence momentarily.
