Holey Island - now that the rains have gone, the potholes in the streets emerge

Saturday, 28 February 2015, 15:25 Last update: about 10 years ago

Now that the rains have abated, the potholes in the roads start to appear.

A Facebook page, It-Toroq f'Ghawdex, is showing horrendous photos taken in Gozo which show huge potholes along many main roads.

The pothole shown above is on the road to Marsalforn.

A person writing on the page said that yesterday evening no less than four persons in different cars suffered punctures near the Capuchin church, in front of the Water Services room. One person suffered two punctures to the same car.

The following two pictures were taken from Triq id-Dawwara, in Victoria.A person wrote that workmen were sent to his street to patch up potholes but they were not filling them all. On being asked, the employee said they had only six bags and these were of the higher-costing tarmac, so they could not fill them all up.

Another person wrote of the bad situation of roads in Kercem. The potholes in the area are very big and one cannot avoid them all.
