Updated: Tripoli ‘government’ reported to criticise Maltese government’s ‘negative’ attitude

Saturday, 28 February 2015, 08:43 Last update: about 10 years ago

The Tripoli salvation government, was yesterday reported to have criticised the Maltese government’s ‘negative attitudes’ and the recent statement of Prime Minister Joseph Muscat in which he favoured a military intervention in Libya.

This was reported on Libyan social media favourable to the regime in Tripoli, such as the Facebook page The truth inside Libya.

Dr Muscat said last week his country supports Italy’s intention to intervene militarily in Libya if dialogue fails, adding Malta will play a role in this intervention.

The salvation government said Dr Muscat’s statement has opened doors for the Maltese media to attack the salvation government and escalate hostility.

It counted five negative attitudes towards Tripoli, including an intentional sabotage act against a Libyan ambulance plane on 31 January in Malta, denying entry to Libyan diplomatic passport holders and mistreatment of wounded people.

The salvation government demanded that the Maltese government justifies these negative attitudes and statements, saying it would take all necessary measures to reconsider all cooperation ties between the two countries.

In another post, addressed to the Maltese prime minister, the page included a photo of resistance forces, from the city of Ifrane, and a declaration of war against the ((Italian invasion)) led by fighter Suleiman Pasha Baroni.

“These simple numbers defeated Italy in the 1911.”

In a later post, the Facebook post added: To the Prime Minister of Malta @JosephMuscat_JM to watch this map .. and to think the strategic interests of Malta .. of the strongest in the Libyan land .. and who has all the financial and administrative capabilities .. and the closest to Malta .. Tobruk, near the border with Egypt .. >> of Tripoli near the shores of Malta and Tunisia borders.
