UKRAINE

NOVOAMVROSIIVSKE, Ukraine — Separatist fighters in east Ukraine moved rocket launchers to a location 70 kilometers (43 miles) back from the front line with government troops Friday in the first confirmed compliance with a cease-fire agreed earlier this month. Associated Press journalists in the morning followed four trucks carrying Grad launchers from the rebel stronghold of Donetsk to a cement factory in the village of Novoamvrosiivske, near the Russian border.

RUSSIA-UKRAINE-GAS

MOSCOW — Cash-strapped Ukraine sought to buy time in its effort to ensure continued gas supplies from Russia, making a $15 million payment to Moscow on Friday as it waits for international rescue loans to arrive. But Moscow says the sum will cover only an additional day, leaving a potential cut-off looming Tuesday.

GERMANY-GREECE

BERLIN — Germany's Parliament overwhelmingly approved the four-month extension of Greece's financial bailout on Friday, despite unease over the new government in Athens. Lawmakers voted 542-32 to back the bailout extension. There were 13 abstentions.

INTERNATIONAL COURT-CONGO

THE HAGUE, Netherlands — International Criminal Court judges on Friday upheld the acquittal of a Congolese man who was cleared at trial of leading a deadly militia attack in eastern Congo. Mathieu Ngudjolo was acquitted in December 2012 of commanding fighters who destroyed the village of Bogoro in eastern Congo in 2003, raping and hacking to death some 200 people including children.

NORWAY-MULLAH-KREKAR

COPENHAGEN, Denmark — An Iraqi-born cleric recently released from prison in Norway is facing a custody hearing after praising the slaying of cartoonists at the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris. Najmaddin Faraj Ahmad, known as Mullah Krekar, was arrested Thursday, a day after telling Norwegian broadcaster NRK that "cartoonist has become a fighting heathen, whom it is permissible to kill."
