Watch: PM will remove Labour exponents from position if they are found to have Swiss bank accounts

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat today said that any Labour exponent who is found to have or have had an undeclared Swiss bank account will be removed from his or her position if the account is discovered.

It was the first time since The Malta Independent revealed that two former Nationalist Ministers held Swiss bank accounts that the Prime Minister made such a strong declaration.

In the past eight days since the revelations were made, Dr Muscat had limited himself to trying to put Austin Gatt in the limelight while defending Michael Falzon and Ninu Zammit, the two former ministers who held Swiss bank accounts without declaring them.

He said that in the run-up to the election he had met Michael Falzon as chairman of the Malta Developers Association, but the Swiss Bank account was not part of the discussion. He said he did not meet Ninu Zammit before the election.

The Nationalist Party has suspended both Mr Zammit and Mr Falzon, with Opposition leader Simon Busuttil saying so on the day The Malta Independent published its investigation.
