The Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM) has called for respect to be shown to journalists following an incident in court yesterday.
The IGM referred to an incident where a lawyer was reported to have told a journalist, who was testifying, that he is paranoid, and needs to see a psychiatrist.
"Without going into the details of the case, the institute believes such statements show a lack respect towards journalists," the IGM said.
The IGM said that even when two parties are in disagreement, respect should be reflected in words and actions of all concerned parties.
