Birkirkara residents up in arms after tarmac used to repair paved road

Wednesday, 4 March 2015, 13:44 Last update: about 10 years ago

Birkirkara residents have complained that a road which was paved making use of European Union funds was resurfaced using tarmac when some of the slabs were broken.

Triq Tumas Dingli, right in front of the old parish church of the locality, was paved a few years ago but, when slabs in the middle of the road broke and were causing inconvenience to drivers, the road was patched up using tarmac, instead of using similar slabs.

Residents who spoke to The Malta Independent said that the road now looks shabby and ugly, and questioned the authorities’ decision to repair the road the way they did.
