Flu vaccines administrated locally were less than 25% effective, parliamentary secretary Chris Fearne revealed in parliament tonight.
Replying to questions put forward by Nationalist MP Claudette Buttigieg, Dr Fearne said that this was due to a mismatch between the vaccine and the prevailing flu which hit Europe.
Earlier on, authorities in the United Kingdom said that the vaccine was only effective in 3% of the cases.
Dr Fearne continued that local authorities were first made aware about this ineffectiveness in December of 2014 following international research, and proceeded to launch an educational campaign to educate the public about necessary precautions to be taken.
Mrs Buttigieg however claimed that there was no extensive media campaign locally, as opposed to campaigns carried out internationally.
