Minister Helena Dalli - one of her remits is the Health and Safety Authority - today oversaw the launch of a handbook titled ‘Stress in the Workplace: A handbook for practitioners’.

The authors of the handbook are Vince Cassar and Mark Borg.

Interestingly, OHSA statistics show that 51% of European workers feel that stress at the place of work is a common thing.

Dr Dalli emphasised the need to address stress at work which would benefit workers, employers and families of workers.

Quoting OHSA statistics, Dr Dalli said that surveys show that 72% of European workers attribute stress to a lack of job insecurity while 66% attribute it with the work load.

“Stress,” she said, “is a phenomenon which could be rather subtle and go unnoticed and therefore, the handbook, would help create awareness on stress-related symptoms.”

Mark Gauci – the executive head of OHSA – was also present during the launch.
