A 24-year-old man today was fined €3,000 after he pleaded guilty to being in possession of cannabis, giving false details to police officers, driving without licence, insurance or licenced plates.
Roderick Grech, from Bahar ic-Caghak admitted to charges brought against him to Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras.
Inspector Marilyn Formosa said that the accused was registering for work and that he always scored positive for drugs when undergoing urine tests. On 4 February, test revealed he was making use of cannabis.
The court ruled that a prison sentence would not be effective in such case.
Inspector Sarah Magri led the prosecution.
