Watch: Therese Comodini Cachia sock campaign to raise awareness on Down’s Syndrome

Friday, 6 March 2015, 10:23 Last update: about 10 years ago

Nationalist MEP Therese Comodini Cachia may set off a new trend in Malta, similar to the one we had last summer with the ice bucket challenge.

Yesterday she posted a youtube video in which, standing in a pair of mismatched socks old on a cold Brussels day, she nominates three acquaintances to repeat the challenge and invite others to do it to. Her aim is to raise awareness on Down's Syndrome.

“I would like to thank MEP Maite Pagazaurtundua Ruiz (Alde, Spain) for challenging me in the socks battle for World Down Syndrome Day which this year will be held on 21 March," she says.

“Today I want to nominate MEP Sean Kelly (EPP, Ireland), Gayle Lynn Callus (KSU President) and Amy Zahra (KSJC Treasurer) and Beppe Galea (SDM Gozo Coordinator) to do the same for raising awareness about Down Syndrome.

“Today I am wearing mismatched socks as part of a campaign organised by World Youth Alliance Europe to raise awareness and create a single global voice for advocating for the rights, inclusion and well-being of people with Down syndrome.”
