Zebbug council spent three years fighting and taking bad decisions - Beppe Fenech Adami

Thursday, 26 March 2015, 15:40 Last update: about 10 years ago

The Zebbug local council led by the Labour Party for three years was involved in internal squabbles and the taking of wrong decisions from which only those close to the mayor benefited, the Nationalist Party deputy leader for party affairs Beppe Fenech Adami said.

Addressing a press conference in the locality, Dr Fenech Adami said the media had reported that a former Labour Party candidate had been given €30,000 a year in consultation services for events and marketing projects.

He asked the public to make comparisons between the achievements of the nearby Siggiewi local council with the problems in Zebbug.

Dr Fenech Adami also referred to the public exchanges between the present mayor and his predecessor, which did not help the situation at all.

Local councils spokesman David Agius said Zebbug residents deserve better. He referred to what Marc Sant, a Labour Party councillor and president of the Local Councils Association, told The Malta Independent – that 10 councils had submitted appeals on the allocation of European funds. He said this confirmed that many councils were not in agreement with the government’s decisions.
