Reference is made to the front page article of The Malta Independent of Sunday of 15 March 2015 where it was alleged that Tony Cassar and Francis Portelli are associated with holdings of $2.1 and $1.9 million respectively, in bank accounts in Switzerland with third parties. 

Upon representations by Mr Cassar and Mr Portelli this newspaper investigated further so as to determine the correctness or otherwise of the facts as reported.

From further verification and review of the sources available to this newspaper it transpires that Mr Cassar and Mr Portelli were not associated with any funds in the said accounts.

In the circumstances The Malta Independent on Sunday is satisfied that from information now made available to it, the names of Mr Cassar and Mr Portelli should not be linked to the funds mentioned in the said newspaper report.

The Malta independent on Sunday while affirming its good faith regrets any inconvenience caused to Mr Cassar and Mr Portelli.
