Late this afternoon, the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) were called to assist an injured man that sustained injuries after falling in the limits of Selmun.

Civil Protection officers were on site to render assistance but due to lack of accessibility, the AFM immediately dispatched an Alouette III helicopter that, within minutes, located the injured man.

Subsequently, AFM rescuers successfully winched the patient aboard the helicopter and transferred him to St Luke’s helipad.

An awaiting ambulance took the patient to Mater Dei hospital for further treatment. The nature of his injures are not believed to be life threatening, the AFM said.
