Wednesday, 1 April 2015, 19:48 Last update: about 10 years ago

A adult greater flamingo (fjamingu) landed in Salina salt pans this afternoon, where it is being guarded by BirdLife Malta and the ALE.

Flamingos are uncommon visitors to Malta, with less than 10 seen each year on migration, some of which decide to stay overnight. Salina salt pans is a bird sanctuary, and flamingos have taken refuge in the past.
