Bank of Valletta has renewed its support towards the Grupp Universitarji Għawdxin (GUG) for another year.

Officially recognised as a student organisation by the Senate of the University of Malta in 1987, GUG continues to expand with a view of becoming more flexible and useful for Gozitan students. Since it was set up, the GUG focused on voicing the concerns faced by Gozitan youths studying in Malta, working hard to safeguard their interests.

Commenting on the agreement signed between the GUG and Bank of Valletta, Kenneth Farrugia, Chief Business Development Officer at Bank of Valletta explained the rationale behind this collaborative agreement. "We strongly believe in the importance of being close to our clients at all times. Through this agreement we seek to compliment members' education with practical insights into the world of financial services. Thus, by the time they are ready to embark on their professional career, they would have already familiarised themselves with the world of financial services." In fact, over the summer period, Bank of Valletta will be providing two GUG students with the opportunity to undertake an internship at the Bank.

Shaun Azzopardi, Acting President of the Grupp Universitarji Għawdxin thanked Kenneth Farrugia for the Bank's support. "Our Group is eager to develop joint workshops and internships with Bank of Valletta. These should help provide the Gozitan student community with a more hands-on experience of the financial services industry," he said.
