Watch: A satisfactory result for the PN with more votes gained in the south - Chris Said

Saturday, 18 April 2015, 12:32 Last update: about 10 years ago

In first comments to the press, PN's General Secretary Chris Said said that results are very satisfying for the PN, and the party did not expect to narrow the gap as much.

First indications show that the PN has gained a 4% to 4.5% increase over the elections three years ago.

"This is an important step for the PN, particularly with an increase of votes with localities in the South. However the party needs to carefully analyse the change in voting in localities across Gozo."

"This year's result needs to be compared to that of three years ago. The distinction between the major party then stood at 17%, today this has gone down to 10%," he said.

PN's Deputy Leader Mario De Marco stressed that this is only the first step, and the party needs to strive further in particular localities.

Asked about the loss of votes in Gozo, Dr Demarco replied that it is still too early to comment, only saying that the reasons may be various.
