Former PL MEP says Labour has lost votes, should stop ridiculing and underestimating Simon Busuttil

Former Labour MEP Joseph Cuschieri has given a number of tips to the Labour Party in order not to lose any more votes following the local council elections.

On Facebook, Mr Cuschieri said the PL has won the election by a 54% majority but cannot ignore the fact that the party lost support in the majority of contested localities.

He said that, in order for the PL to avoid a further haemorrhage of votes, it should listen to those whom the party had made promises to and those who are still seeking justice.

The PL should also give the necessary attention to those people who were always there for the party and should also deal with the arrogant elements within it and those who have let power go to their heads.

Mr Cuschieri, who had famously given up his parliamentary seat to Joseph Muscat, said the PL had to remain close to the people. “We should stop ridiculing and underestimating Simon Busuttil and the PN. I believe that this is only doing us harm.”

The former MEP said he hoped that the party would listen to his constructive criticism.
