Bird Life Malta has managed to capture shots of beautiful birds passing over Malta on spring migration at the moment.
Ironically, the hunting season started just a week ago, after the Yes camp won the referendum with just 2,200 votes. Within two days, two hunters were arraigned for shooting protected birds, a cuckoo and a lapwing bird.
Two thousand species of birds make regular seasonal movements. Many travel thousands of miles between their breeding places and their wintering grounds but more than 40% of these migratory species are declining, with nearly 200 being classified as threatened.
