The EU Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos will attend a funeral being held for migrants who lost their lives in Sunday's tragedy when their boat capsized in the Mediterranean.
The migrants’ bodies were recovered yesterday and transported to Malta.
Over 800 people are believed to have lost their lives during the ill-fated trip to Europe which departed from the Libyan coast.
Mr Avramopoulos will arrive in Malta tomorrow evening following a visit to Rome.
After attending the funeral service in the morning, he will then head off to the extraordinary EU summit on the migration crisis being held on Thursday.
This evening, Maltese Interior Minister Carmelo Abela told One TV that Mr Acramopoulos will be joined by Italian Interior Minister Angelino Alfano.
