Suad Amiry said she was honoured that her best seller ‘Sharon and my mother-in law’  was now also published in the Maltese language. Suad Amiry said this when she presented a copy of ‘Sharon u l-Kunjata’ to the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat at his Office in Castille. The book has been translated into Maltese by Jean Paul Borg who also attended the book presentation. Suad Amiry flew to Malta from Washington DC to attend the book launch later this evening at St James Cavallier, Valletta.

Suad Amiry has been touring  capitals in different continents talking about her book  which has already been published in twenty languages.  The book contains 42 chapters related to the Israeli occupation of Ramallah in the occupied Palestinian territory in 2002. This book is surprisingly funny and different from other writings on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.  The Ramallah-based author had a runaway success with her book of chronicles in occupied Ramallah and other Arab cities.  Employing a sharp and witty style, Amiri, who graduated from universities in the United States and Edinburgh, details life, often emotionally charged, in the West Bank.  She describes episodes both tragic and humorous and the bizarre is never far off Amiri’s target. 

Jean Paul Borg and Palestinian academic Walid Nabhan attended the presentation. The book launch will be held today at St. James Cavallier, Valletta at 7pm. Excerpts of the book will be read by Mireille Mifsud while Suad Amiry will address the audience and sign copies of the book. The public is invited to attend. Entrance is free.
