Minister Joe Mizzi laments that some people do not know how to go to Cottonera

Work on the restoration of two facades of the Santa Tereza church in Cospicua has started while Mepa has issued a permit for the restoration of the four sides of San Gorg Band Club, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Joe Mizzi said.

Speaking at the end of a series of meetings on Cottonera’s heritage, Mr Mizzi said that some people still do not know how to reach Cottonera and its surroundings.

Projects that have been carried out or being carried out in Cottonera and Kalkara follow the government’s vision for the regeneration of the area, while at the same time encouraging social inclusion. Such projects also increase appreciation towards culture. 

He spoke of other projects at the Regatta Club and on the St Dominic niche. An application is before Mepa for the restoration of the main staircase of the church of St Lawrence, while work will soon start on the embellishment of the Dominican Convent.

In Senglea, the facade of the St Julian’s church will be renovated while work has also been carried out on the roof of the Marija Bambina parish church.

The Kalkara church parvis has also been renovated and work is now being carried out on the Santa Liberata church.
