The first night of the Malta International Fireworks Festival was an outright success with thousands of people turning out to watch the spectacular pyro-musical competition that started at 21:00hrs with a display by St Andrew’s Band Fireworks Factory Factory from Luqa, followed by the first ever Asian display at the Malta International Fireworks Festival by Thailand Fireworks. These were followed by St Mary Fireworks Factory from Ghaxaq and Lourdes Fireworks Factory from Qrendi.  The evening came to a close with a display starting at around 23:00hrs by A.P.E. di Parente Romualdo from Italy. The crowd was also treated to a live concert by Maestro Paul Abela & Band.

The spectacle will continue on Thursday 30 April in the unique settings of Valletta’s Grand Harbour with the National Fireworks competition and the closing display in the tourist hub of Bugibba on Saturday 02 May with a Pyromusical show and a Ground Fireworks Display. The event on Thursday 30th April will be complemented with a live concert by Maestro Joe Brown & Band, while the closing display in Bugibba will have various musical performances from Kurt Calleja and Friends, a Panama Band, a Peruvjani Band and also a live concert by Versatile Brass Band.

Last year’s Festival winners, Pyrotex from England, have once again been invited to provide a closing spectacle to all those present on the last night of the Festival in Bugibba on Saturday 02 May. Besides this, the popular PyroEmotions from Italy shall also be performing a pyromusical show at the Grand Harbour to close the night on Thursday 30 April.

The Malta International Fireworks Festival is just one of several events that the Malta Tourism

Authority organises throughout the year. Other major events include the Isle of MTV Malta

Special on 7 July, and the Malta International Choir Festival (29 October – 1 November).
