The Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Business has today visited the first seminar organised by Google in Malta at the Mediterranean Conference Centre during which he thanked Google for having made this first step forward towards offering its services to companies operating in and from Malta.
Minister Cardona said that Malta is determined to play a central role in e-gaming and the creative industries and that the event organised by Google today further shows that Malta has great potential in the this sector.
Dr Cardona said that Malta is interested in maintaining a long term relationship with Google and encouraged companies working in the industry to be adaptable so as to help the industry as it faces future challenges.
Minister Cardona said that Malta’s openness to others extends in the way Malta Enterprise operates. “It sends a message to people in business that Malta is a good place to locate – an island that won’t put obstacles in your way but will help stimulate success” said Minister Cardona.
Dr Cardona said that Malta is doing well in attracting new investment which is always welcome because of the jobs this creates. “The fact that Malta has placed second worldwide in the IBM Global Location Trends Report for the quality of foreign direct investment being attracted, shows that it is not just any kind of investment that is being attracted to Malta” said Minister Cardona.
Following the Minister’s intervention, Enrico Bellini (Senior analyst, Google) thanked the Ministry for the Economy, Investment and Small Business for its support and said that, following the interest expressed by local companies, Google will be organising another event in Malta later on this year.
The Google delegation was led by Gerald Sauvageon (Head of Publishing & Entertainment, Partner Business Solutions France), Benoit Tabaka (Senior Policy Manager, Privacy & Security) and Enrico Bellini (Public Policy & Government Relations, Senior Analyst). Amongst others, presentations on Google and innovation in the digital gaming industry and the Google cloud platform where delivered during the seminar.
