The Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) today launched an Online interactive Risk Assessment (OiRA) system, a free-to-use system with the aim of helping smaller companies evaluate the occupational risks of their workplace.
The OiRA system was launched as part of a project by the European Agency for Safety and Health and Work (EU-OSHA), which the OHSA participated in.
At a conference focusing on the issue today, Social Dialogue Minister Helena Dalli pointed out that out of the 39 fatal work accidents that have occurred in the past seven years, a quarter occurred in companies employing fewer than 9 people, while another quarter involved self-employed people.
She said that interactive tools such as the OiRA, which can also be used on a smartphone, could help evaluate workplace risks and address them accordingly.
