The waiting list for people wanting to enter residential homes for the elderly currently stands at 1,649.

Answering a parliamentary question put by opposition MP Charlo Bonnici, Social Solidarity Minister Michael Farrugia said that there were 1,649 people over the age of 65 waiting for a place in a residential home.
