St Julian's mayor to meet Transport Malta on 'mess' in Birkirkara Road

Wednesday, 6 May 2015, 18:55 Last update: about 10 years ago

The new mayor of St Julian's, Karl Gouder, said this afternoon he will be meeting officials from Transport Malta tomorrow to try and sort out the 'mess' in Birkirkara Road. Road works in this vital road have now reached the narrowest part and traffic is being diverted in both directions. But the result has been chaos, a lot of honking and boiling tempers.

Mr Gouder wrote:

A COUNTRY IN A MESS.

So Water Services close a main street in St. Julian's and don't even think about a proper diversion.

There is a total mess in B'kara Road and around.

- I call the Wardens and they inform me that they can't do anything about it,
- I call Transport Malta and they also inform me that they can't do anything about it,
- I call the Police Station in St. Julian's and they also inform me that they can't do anything about it.

I made it very clear that the new Local Council will not tolerate this amateurism any more!!!!!!!!!!!!

Writing on Mr Gouder's Facebook page, Giselle Camilleri said: "I have complained to TM on the scene that No Wardens present to direct traffic, with Diversion creating a dangerous bottle-neck in Sir J. Carbone Street and lack of information for commuters and, obviously, residents and businesses in the area."

Mr Gouder replied: "Police are now on site. Tomorrow we should be meeting Transport Malta. I will be keeping you informed."
