Hili Ventures appoints Steve Tarr as its new chairman, succeeding Melo Hili

Hili Ventures has appointed Director Steve Tarr as its new Chairman, succeeding Melo Hili, who until now has held the dual post of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr Hili will now focus exclusively on his role of Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Tarr will apply his broad business experience to lead the board and set its agenda, and guide directors to all the necessary information to ensure optimal decision-making outcomes.

As Chief Executive Officer, Mr Hili will spearhead Hili Ventures’ over-arching commercial and professional strategy. He will ensure it is focused on the objectives of the group’s Vision 2020, guided by Hili Ventures’ values, and consistently aligned with the group’s core strengths to sustain competitive advantage and grasp opportunities in various international markets.

Mr Tarr’s appointment comes at an important stage in the group’s growth.

Hili Ventures has four subsidiaries engaged in logistics, engineering and oil and gas support services; technology; property management; and multi-sited operations with McDonald’s and Apple in 10 countries. The group, which has a staff complement of 3,500 people, is now geared to enter its next growth phase. It will continue to expand in the sectors and markets in which it is already present and seek new ventures outside its current footprint.

“Steve’s appointment comes at a critical time for Hili Ventures after the substantial growth the group witnessed in 2014,” Mr Hili said. “We envisage group turnover to grow from last year’s €200 million to €300 million. The separation of the leadership roles will ensure we are even more effective in guiding the business and our people to fulfill their potential.”

Mr Tarr is a widely experienced management consultant and sits on several boards in the UK, Malta and Germany. He is a specialist in supporting organisationsto effect and manage change and to drive people management. Mr Tarr has delivered bespoke training programmes to thousands of people within organisations of all sizes in more than 30 countries since 1985.

Effective May 11, 2015, the board of Hili Ventures is composed of Steve Tarr (Chairman), Melo Hili (Director and Chief Executive Officer), Richard Abdilla Castillo (Group Finance Director), Doris Danner (Director) and Jesmond Mizzi (Director).
