Retail Price Index: April 2015

In the month under review, the annual rate stood at 1.59 per cent. A year earlier the annual rate was 0.01 per cent.

The main upward impacts on annual inflation were recorded in the Food Index (0.76 percentage points), the Clothing and Footwear Index (0.53 percentage points) and the Recreation and Culture Index (0.21 percentage points). This was mainly due to higher prices for vegetables, garments and toys respectively.

The largest downward impact was brought about by the Transport and Communication Index (0.37 percentage points). This was mainly due to a price reduction in fuels.

The twelve-month moving average rate was 0.38 per cent.
