A Vittoriosa man who smashed several items at his former lover’s apartment was today put on probation for three years. He was already serving another probation order.
The court heard how Marco Vassallo, 42, trashed his ex-girlfriend’s apartment at 3am in the morning on 11 July 2013.
Mr Vassallo was charged with damaging private property, threatening his ex-girlfriend, including with the use of electronic communication, causing hear fear that violence would be used against her and breaching a probation order.
The accused, who had subsequently paid for all the damages, pleaded guilty to the charges.
The court, presided by Magistrate Josette Demicoli said that, seeing that the man needed help so that such instances would not happen again, it would be more opportune to put him on probation. The court also issued a one-year protection order for the woman and ordered Mr Vassallo not to speak to her or harass her in any way against a €1,000 fine in default.
Lawyer Carm Mifsud Bonnici appeared for the accused. Inspector Trevor Micallef prosecuted.
