On Tuesday 19th May, the Director of the Maleth Sinfonia Keyboard Orchestra, Chev Mro Mark Agius and members of the Board of Administrators presented two donations of €5000 each to the Head of Helen Keller Resource Centre, Ms Connie Richard, and the Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Fr Martin Micallef respectively.  The presentation took place at Helen Keller Resource Centre where the Principal of St Benedict College, Mr Carmel Micallef and Mr George Said Zammit, Director of Student Services within the Education Division were also present.  A student from Helen Keller Resource Centre, Angie Farrugia presented Thank You cards which had been made by the students at the Centre with the aid of the staff.

The Maleth Sinfonia Keyboard Orchestra was set up in 2011 and is the only one of its kind on the island.  It is made up of fourteen keyboards and five percussionists together with six singers. All members of the orchestra are voluntary and to their credit are fully committed to the orchestra and its philanthropic values.   The donations presented were collected through the concert 'An Evening of Magical Music from the Animated Classics' which took place on the 15th March 2015 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in collaboration with the order of St John. The concert also saw the participation of special guests Gianluca Bezzina and his siblings, Ian J. Vella, Marie Therese Vassallo and Ludwig Galea together with the Marie Therese Vassallo Voice Studio Choir, Stagecoach Malta Choir, Stagecoach Dance Troup, Paul Curmi Dance Studio and animators from the Hip Hip Hurrah Animation Team. The concert was a great success with attendance being close to a full house.

The orchestra's next concert will be in aid of the Richmond and will be held in May 2016.  Further details may be found on the orchestra's facebook page and on the website, www.malethsinfonia.com.
