Around €500,000 will be given to 20 local councils to repair roads and passages in rural areas, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Roderick Galdes has said.
The project is financed through the Rural Development Programme and will assure more accessibility for farmers.
The resurfacing of roads and passages will affect some 450 farmers and animal breeders, he explained, 90 of whom are registered as full-time farmers. He added that 32,000 square metres of roads will see work done across the 20 localities. The areas include Zurrieq, Marsascala, Dingli, Zejtun, Mgrarr as well as Nadur, Ghasri and Gharb in Gozo.
