Armed robber makes off with €600 from Mosta lotto booth in second hold-up in as many days

A hooded man armed with a knife this morning stole €600 from a Mosta lotto booth. This was the second hold-up on a lotto booth in as many days.

In a statement the police said the man held up the lotto booth in Eucharistic Congress Road in Mosta at around 10.30m. The armed robber ordered the 67-year-old owner to hand owner the cash and then ran off.

The police said the Rapid Intervention Unit has intensified its patrols and the robbery is being investigated by Mosta District Police and the Criminal Investigations Department.

Any information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case would be appreciated, the police said. Information can be passed to the police in a confidential manner.

Yesterday, some €3,000 were stolen in a similar hold-up in Hompesch Road, Fgura.
