The Gozo whistleblower in the works-for-votes case has filed a counter protest in court against PN leader Simon Busuttil, arguing that in his protest Dr Busuttil failed to specify in which section of the Court of Magistrates in Gozo he was complaining to.
This shows that Dr Busuttil’s protest is nothing but political propaganda he does not want to be part of, Joe Cauchi said in his protest.
Mr Cauchi also deplored Dr Busuttil’s actions for using a legal instrument to place pressure on him to change the version of events in the case the Police vs Anthony Debono.
The protest continued that it is worth pointing out that those trying to influence others to give a false testimony, or by exercising pressure on persons protected by the Whistleblower Act, is illegal and considered a crime.
The protest also said that it is ironic that Dr Busuttil first issued a statement stating that Mr Cauchi confirmed what he (Dr Busuttil) had said but then filed a protest against him alleging that Mr Cauchi gave a false testimony.
Mr Cauchi rebutted the unfounded allegations made by Dr Busuttil, saying that he (Mr Cauchi) does not intend going back on his words since what he said in court is nothing but the truth.
