Front Harsien ODZ seeks participation of concerned citizens for effective campaign

Friday, 29 May 2015, 18:21 Last update: about 10 years ago

The Front Harsien ODZ is seeking the endorsement of more concerned citizens in its bid to create an effective campaign against development in outside development zones.

In light of recent developments with regards to the proposed private University on ODZ land in Zonqor, the front was launched with the precise objective to protect all ODZ in Malta, the front said in a statement.

The Front was established as a result of a public meeting called by Moviment Graffitti and other individuals. In this meeting, it was agreed that a broad and inclusive front should be established, and we asked those present wanting to be part of the Front's core group, to send an email expressing their interest. The core group was then formed. The group has already met and publicly launched Front Ħarsien ODZ. The core group is composed of individuals, and while these individuals can and do represent organisations, decisions and votes are taken by all present in the core group.

“We wish to make it clear that this is not a new NGO, and does not in any way seek to duplicate or undermine efforts already in place. It is simply a space where all these efforts can be brought together, to create an effective campaign that will also include the contribution of concerned citizens. Furthermore, the Front is not aligned with any political party, single organisation or group. It is simply a citizens' movement.
“We believe that this movement can only become effective if we take a common stand and work together. as we set to define and articulate our strategy and ways forward. To join and endorse the campaign, please email us on [email protected]  and please do like and follow our Facebook Page for regular updates https://www.facebook.com/FrontHarsienODZ?pnref=story.  Those joining the Front will be also receiving regular updates on the discussions and decisions taking place within the core group.”
