The government is about to allocate €12 million in EU funds to assist companies who employ persons with a disability, among other target groups, the secretariat of Parliamentary Secretary for EU Funds Ian Borg told The Malta Independent online. The scheme forms part of the Access to Employment (A2E)

During the budget, a number of tax reductions were announced to help boost persons with a disability to join the workforce. The tax reductions which were announced were for companies who do take up such persons.

Companies which apply for the scheme – the €12m will go towards eight target groups – will benefit from a weekly flat rate subsidy of €125 for each person employed who suffers from a disability.
