First four months of 2015 registers decrease in deficit– government

According to the National Statistics Office, deficit in April 2015 decreased by €130 million compared to April of last year, and the deficit is now at the lowest it has been in the past fifteen years, the government said in a statment. .

Government income in the first four months of 2015 increased by €168 million – 19%, thanks to €111 million in additional funds of the European Union.

In a statment, the government said that the opposition has insisted that government expenditure has increased without control. However, public expenditure has increased by 2% as opposed to 11% in 2012.

Capital expenditure between January and April 2015  increased by €13 million, compared to the first four months of 2015. The government invested €1.1 million in infrastructural and capital projects.

Government’s management of funds is leaving a positive  effect on national debt, which has decreased by €120 million in the past ten months.

The government promised to ensure further economic growth and further decrease of national debt.
