Three American authors on one-week Malta visit, guests of Malta Tourism Authority

Tuesday, 23 June 2015, 06:45 Last update: about 10 years ago

Three famous American authors are spending one week in Malta on the invitation of the Malta Tourism Authority as part of its endeavour to promote the islands on the American market.

In its attempt at diversification and expansion of the tourism industry, the MTA is giving special attention to its American market and the visit of Chris Kuzneski, Graham Brown and Boyd Morrison falls in line with its plan.

Kuzneski was selected by the MTA because in most of his international bestsellers he mentioned Malta. Alerted to this by an avid reader, and in the hope that Kuzneski will base the story of his next book in Malta, the MTA contacted the Florida writer and invited him over.

Brown and Morrison were later asked to join the trip, and the three are spending the next few days getting to know the country – its archaeology, its history and its everyday life – to get a better idea of what Malta can offer its visitors. They are all writers of books in the thriller-action genre, and the MTA hopes that their stay here will spark their inspiration.

The three authors, who arrived yesterday, will be taken to visit St John’s Co-Cathedral, the Museum of Archaeology, the Maritime Museum, Mdina, Gozo, Marsaxlokk and other places of interest.

They will also be taking part in a book event at the Agenda Bookshop at Tigne Point on Saturday 27 June at 11am, with their fans encouraged to turn up to meet them.

Chris Kuzneski: Author of 10 international bestsellers and with another book on the way, Chris has sold more than a billion books and his novels have been translated into 25 languages. Filming of The Hunters, based on one of his books, will start later this year.

Graham Brown: A former pilot and lawyer, Graham’s first novel debuted in 2010. He now co-writes the NUMA files with Clive Cussler, with their second collaboration, The Storm, debuting at Number 1 on the New York Times bestselling list.

Boyd Morrison: Boyd is another writer who has collaborated with Clive Cussler, on a book called Piranha, but he has also developed his own series – the Tyler Locke Adventures – and has also published other stand-alone thrillers.
