Ministerial declaration of assets tabled in Parliament, Deputy PM drawing three pensions

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat this evening tabled the ministerial declaration of assets in Parliament. 

This is the first asset declaration under the new 'watered down' ministerial code of ethics. 

Ministers no longer have to declare how much their spouses earn. 

Despite this, Economy Minister Chris Cardona and Gozo Minister Anton Refalo still declared their wives' earnings. 

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has €75,000 deposited in the bank. 

Deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech is drawing three pensions, an MEP retirement pension of €12,070, a voluntary contributory pension of 17,453, a government pension of 12,342, as well as his ministerial salary of €58, 666. 

Gozo Minister Anton Refalo has a loan of €781,200, with monthly payments of €2,250. Apart from his ministerial salary of €58,214, Dr Refalo earnt €7,400 from payments in arrears from his legal practice, rent income of €13,500 and the second part-payment from the sale of a flat which earnt him €23,300. 

Civil Liberties Minister Helena Dalli earnt €58,666 from her ministerial role, and €5,502 for lecturing at the University of Malta. 

Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi holds €310,279 in bank deposits, earnt €76,000 in 2014 and has a loan of €329,816. 

The Parliamentary Secretary for EU Funds Ian Borg declared €14,000 in banks deposits and a loan of €223,439. 

He has an apartment in Dingli, two offices, two "substandard residencies" and an agricultural parcel of land. 

The Parliamentary Secretary for Health Chris Fearne declared income of €88,000 in 2014, deposits of €133,827 and £3,030, and a loan of €3,600.
