The performances of youngster Charlotte Wingfield caught the attention of many especially those Maltese at the Baku Games, who saw Wingfield perform at a good level with her opponents. The 20 year-old performed for Team Malta on Sunday in the 100m and the relay while she competed also in the 200m on Monday.

Reacting after her last race, the 200m, Charlotte Wingfield said that she was very tired because it was her third race in 24 hours but was very happy with her Personal Best in the 100m and the Seasonal Best in the 200m. She described Baku as an amazing place being also her first major event in her first year competing for Malta.

She described Malta as a welcoming place and even her team-mates helped her a lot to settle down. "To improve, Malta needs to have a different mentality when competing in such games. You can't go to a competition with a negative mindset to perform and aim high," continued Wingfield.

There's a big difference competing at the Small Nations Games and despite the difference from the European Games, the standards have to be high - with her mentality she won two Gold medals.

She dedicates a lot of time to training and spends all week doing different types of training such as Gym, Sprints and Longer sessions.

After these two busy competitions, Wingfield's next target is the Under 23 championships which are to be held in two weeks time in Estonia, and with the dedication and will to improve, Wingfield can continue to develop in order to make a good name for herself and for Malta.

The Malta badminton team composed of Samuel Cali and Fiorella Marie Sadowski lost their third match in Mixed Doubles  Group A. They went down 21-3, 21-2 against Ireland's Sam and Chloe Magee.

Meanwhile in judo, Marcon Bezzina will be in action today in the -63kg (Last 32). She will be facing Mia Hermansson of Sweden.
