The Union Haddiema Maghqudin last week met with Health Minister Konrad Mizzi and Parliamentary for Health Chris Fearne hours before the government announced the preferred bidders for the St Luke’s, Karin Grech and Gozo hospitals’ Public Private Partnership.

In a statement, the UHM said the meeting was an important one since it discussed its preoccupations on health sector workers who may be affected by this move.

On Saturday, Projects Malta announced that Vitalis/Bluestone were chosen to take up the 200 million euro health sector investment after three companies answered a call for proposals made by government earlier this year. The other companies are Image Hospitals and BSP Investments Ltd.

The UHM said that it was agreed with the government that a series of meetings will be held in future so that health sector workers’ conditions are safeguarded.

The UHM said that it will keep workers informed on any developments.
