The Auditor General, in a report presented in the Public Accounts Committee, confirms that the reduction in energy tariffs was 25% for families in 2014 and 25% for businesses in 2015, the Energy Ministry has said.
"This reduction saw €80 million in the pockets of families and businesses each year. The same report shows that under the previous administration, energy tariffs did not reflect the international oil price, where the price of oil had risen by 4% and the electricity prices rose by 71%".
The Ministry also noted that Enemalta, from being €840 million in debt, is now on a better track. "This government is helping Enemalta stand on its feet, while the reduction in electricity tariffs is the third highest reduction in all EU countries".
