Total arrivals and nights spent in collective accommodation establishments during April 2015 declined by 0.7 and 4.3 per cent respectively when compared to the corresponding month in 2014, the National Statistics Office said.
In April, total arrivals in collective accommodation establishments numbered 142,311, while total nights spent amounted to 720,462. All collective accommodation categories recorded decreases in total nights spent. The largest share of guest nights was reported in 4-star hotels, accounting for 341,886 nights, or 47.5 per cent of the total.
The average length of stay in collective accommodation establishments went down to 5.1 nights in April 2015 from 5.3 nights in the same month of 2014. The net use of bed-places stood at 63.1 per cent, down by 0.7 percentage points when compared to the corresponding month last year.
On a national level, there were 157 active collective accommodation establishments during April, with a net capacity of 17,614 bedrooms and 38,345 bed-places.
January-April
Total arrivals during the first four months of 2015 amounted to 416,422, an increase of 2.7 per cent over the same period of 2014. Total nights spent went up by 1.6 per cent, reaching nearly 2.2 million. The net use of bed-places advanced by 2.6 percentage points to 51.2 per cent.
